El tumor se eval\u00faa generalmente con un calibrador, el m\u00e9todo de referencia actual para monitorizar el crecimiento del volumen. Sin embargo, el calibrador presenta algunas limitaciones. No permite distinguir el tumor del tejido inflamatorio o fibr\u00f3tico circundante. Adem\u00e1s, es un m\u00e9todo invasivo que mide \u00fanicamente la superficie externa del tumor, ignorando lesiones m\u00e1s grandes y profundas. Por el contrario, la resonancia magn\u00e9tica (RM) es un m\u00e9todo no invasivo que permite (1) una evaluaci\u00f3n tridimensional del volumen tumoral (2) y la monitorizaci\u00f3n in vivo del crecimiento de la lesi\u00f3n.
