Les cellules tumorales sont implant\u00e9es dans le flanc d'une souris. La tumeur est ensuite g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement \u00e9valu\u00e9e \u00e0 l'aide d'un pied \u00e0 coulisse, la m\u00e9thode de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence actuelle pour contr\u00f4ler la croissance du volume. Le pied \u00e0 coulisse pr\u00e9sente toutefois certaines limites. Il ne permet pas de distinguer la tumeur elle-m\u00eame du tissu inflammatoire ou fibrotique qui l'entoure. Il s'agit \u00e9galement d'une m\u00e9thode invasive qui ne mesure que la surface externe d'une tumeur, ignorant les l\u00e9sions plus larges et plus profondes. Au contraire, l'IRM est une approche non invasive qui permet (1) une \u00e9valuation 3D du volume tumoral (2) et un suivi in vivo de la croissance des l\u00e9sions.
